Luckily I was thinking in advance on this beautiful April day and hit record on the serato mixer. After a few requests for this mix from people that made it to the Tarina Tarantino event at the Sephora in SoBe, I have finally gotten around to editing and posting it for all of your listening pleasure. This mix is very sophisticated and sexy--kind of indie and housy. Tracklist:

This mix is for any occasion you're not trying to chill! If you cannot stand for more than 60 minutes at a time, do not press play because you will not be able to sit or stand still! xoxo,

September 05, 2008 03:43 PM PDT
A typical DJ Omi R&B and MashUp set recorded live upstairs @ the ever fabulous, packed and star-studded Marquee nightclub in New York City. I love love love the first track "Corona & Lime"--look out for my Scratch rmx of it on my myspace page. Then I throw it back to some of my favorite r&b tracks from the days of Nell's (where I officially got my start as a dj--currently known as the Plumm, owned by Mr. Noel Ashman). You feel the room fill as the energy in the mix builds thanks to some original mashups combined with some Crooklyn Clan love.

Podcast SummaryAll your favorites remix and mashed to a yummy pulp... About DJ OmiA girl on the decks is sexy, but a girl who consistently rocks the party: that’s hot. Don’t be fooled by Omi’s signature Swarvorski crystal headphones, she’s more than meets the eye. At five-foot-ten, this stunning brunette has secured residencies at NYC’s top clubs, like Marquee, Suzy Wongs, Touch, Providence in AC, and Southampton hotspot Dune. She’s made fans of people in high places—including former U.S. president Bill Clinton, whose people, after hearing her spin at Esquire’s 75th Anniversary party, asked her to DJ at his Millennium Network Event co-hosted by Wyclef Jean at the Hammerstein Ballroom. As American Idols go, she also opened for Kelly Clarkson at Madison Square Garden. After headlining three tours around Southeast Asia and an impressive catalog of original remixes and mashups, Omi is operating at full stride. She DJs alongside buzzed-about celebs, like Kid Rock, Common, and Carmen Elecktra, as well hip-hop legends, including Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash, and DMC. She also does music consulting for retail stores, restaurants, and lounges, as well as the occasional in-store appearance. This holiday, shop to her handpicked playlist at American Eagle’s “Martin & Osa” Luxury Stores. Underneath those long lashes, sly smile, and skin-tight designer jeans, Omi sports a neurobiology-philosophy degree from Columbia University where she wrote her senior thesis on the effect of hip-hip and language on social consciousness. She is classically trained in piano and drums and has completed the Institute of Audio Research. When not behind the decks, Omi is busy at work in the studio. Her trademark high-energy mashups of hip-hop, rock, and elektro house have made her a downtown icon and gained her respect from top DJs, high-profile promoters, and loyal fans. Much preparation and a touch of magic keep the heads turning, the ears listening, and the bodies moving—Omi loves what she does and it comes through.
